Kenapa Indonesia lajur kiri dan setir kanan?

Why does Indonesia drive on the left?

Transkrip video (English)

Seventy percent of the world drives on the right side of the road.

Yet Indonesia, along with Britain and Japan, strictly drives on the left.

One popular theory: riders kept to the left so their right sword arm faced oncoming strangers.

In Napoleon's era, much of continental Europe moved to the right, and eventually the Netherlands did too.

But by then, the Dutch East Indies had already settled into keeping left.

Colonies were slow to change, and later, right-hand-drive cars from Japan kept Indonesia on the left.

Indonesia drives on the left because of an old colonial habit it never gave up.
