Satu rudal Patriot harganya lebih dari 4 juta dolar AS, lebih besar dari penghasilan seumur hidup kebanyakan orang. Namun dalam konflik modern, pencegat jutaan dolar ini kadang ditembakkan ke drone seharga sekitar 20.000 dolar. Kenapa rela membayar sampai dua ratus kali lipat?

Pertama, rekayasanya. Patriot PAC-3 tidak sekadar meledak di dekat sasaran; ia menabrak sasaran secara fisik pada kecepatan sekitar Mach 5, dibekali radar aktif dan 180 pendorong roket mini yang menyala dalam hitungan milidetik.
